PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. -
A motorcycle rider was killed Tuesday morning in Pickens County after a crash with a trash truck.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports the accident happened at 4:17 a.m. on Bethlehem Ridge Road about four miles south of Pickens.

James Harold Boggs, 33, of Pickens was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pickens County Coroner's Office.

A woman was driving a trash truck south and started to make a left turn. Troopers say the Boggs was also traveling south on a motorcycle and attempted to pass the truck.

In an attempt to avoid the truck, the rider laid the motorcycle down, but the bike collided with the trash truck.

We're told Boggs wasn't wearing a helmet. His body was transported to Greenville Hospital System for an autopsy.
