RALEIGH, N.C. -

Search warrants released Monday shed a terrifying light on the May 5 robbery of American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and two friends in a Raleigh apartment.

Officers were dispatched to 2130 Wolf Tech Lane shortly before 2 a.m. on May 5 in response to a robbery. Police said three armed suspects entered the apartment and took wallets, money and electronics from the victims, including McCreery, who is a student at North Carolina State University.

McCreery did not live in the apartment.

According to a search warrant released Monday, the three suspects knocked on the apartment door before pushing their way in when someone inside the apartment cracked the door.

"My friend opened the door to see if he had a question, and we think the other three guys were nestled up against the door so we couldn't see them in the peephole," McCreery previously told the Music Times website. "As soon as the door opened an inch, they barged in, guns waving."

The warrant says the men brandished two pistols and an AK-47 assault rifle, which they used to demand the victims' wallets and cell phones.

After getting the money and phones, the warrant says the suspects forced the victims in to a closet and told them to "count to 100 and do not come out of the closet."

McCreery told the Music Times that during the robbery, the suspect with the AK-47 put the gun against the sternum of the victim who initially opened the door. Another suspect had pistols to both McCreery and the third victim's heads.

"It definitely puts your life in perspective when you're staring down the barrel of a pistol," McCreery said.

In addition to the money and cellphone, a MacBook Pro was also stolen from the apartment. No one was injured during the incident.

Later in the afternoon on the same day as the robbery, Mikkail Jamal Shaw, 19, of Raleigh, turned himself in to authorities and subsequently charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The warrant says Shaw told officers that his cell phone was in the possession of Dimerist Hedgepetth, and it is believed "evidence of this robbery and the identities of the remaining suspects will be located in the cell phone."

Shaw's cell phone was seized May 8.

No other arrests have been made at this point.
