Sheriff's Office Investigating Sex Video Shared Among Students

Posted: Updated:
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Spartanburg County Sheriff is investigating a sex video recorded by teenagers that police say was sent to other students.

The incident involved students at a local school last week. They were not on campus. No one has been charged at this time.

A police report said four teenagers were drinking and involved in a sex act.

Police seized the phones and placed them into evidence.

The sheriff said Tuesday night that he planned to meet with prosecutors to see if anything was illegal.

According to the incident report, a deputy explained to parents that the students were of consensual age for them to have sex. The people involved knew they were being taped and did not object.

The age of consent for minors in SC is 14-years-old.

Spartanburg District 5 is aware of the incident. They do not disclose disciplinary action against students.

A spokeswoman said they were waiting to hear about the conclusion of sheriff's office's investigation.
