POLK COUNTY, N.C. -

Eastbound Interstate 26 is down to one lane after a tractor-trailer crash in western North Carolina Wednesday morning.

The North Carolina State Patrol tells us the lanes are blocked because of the accident at the 62 mile marker. Video from Air 7 shows the trailer of the big rig is completely blocking both lanes and some of the contents have spilled out.

Westbound I-26 traffic has been cut down to one lane near the accident site. Some of the contents of the tractor-trailer are near the westbound lanes of the highway over the median.

It appears another vehicle was involved in the wreck.

A detour has been set up for drivers traveling east on Interstate 26.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation asks those drivers to take Exit 59. Turn right onto Ozone Drive and follow to a stop sign. At the stop sign turn left onto Highway 176 towards Tryon.

Stay on Highway 176 to the signal light in Tryon and turn left onto Highway 108 towards Columbus.

That will take you to the ramp to return to eastbound Interstate 26.

Authorities said there were two people inside the 18-wheeler; both are expected to be okay. The woman driving the station wagon is also expected to be okay.
