GREENVILLE, N.C. - In the mood for a free doughnut? You're in luck. Friday is National Doughnut Day and many local restaurants are celebrating.

Restaurants like Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts are offering free doughnuts to patrons on Friday, June 6th.

The reason behind the holiday? National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by The Salvation Army to raise funds for people in need during the depression era, and is observed every year on the first Friday of June.
