MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - It was another slow final day at the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament as no blues were brought back to Morehead City Saturday afternoon. That means the Inspiration's 754.3 lb. catch from Monday holds on as the tournament winner.

It was another great year at the Big Rock as 42 blue marlins were released, 5 were boated, 80 white marlins were released and 4 sailfish were released.

Monday's catch from The Inspiration, a 754.3 lb. blue marlin is nearly 300 pounds bigger than last years winner. Captain Casey Wagner and angler Bruce Brown are responsible for the catch. They'll get the bulk of the purse worth over a million dollars.

Captain Casey Wagner of the Inspiration has been fishing Big Rock for 40 years. He says Monday's catch was a dream fish.

"It’s pretty awesome to be in the lead the first day of the Big Rock tournament. I’ve been fishing this thing for 40 years and that fish is just a fish of lifetime really,” said Wagner.

Finishing in second is the Eye Catcher, which boated a 606.9 pounder on Monday. The Eye Catcher is from Wrightsville Beach. That fish weighed 142 pounds more than last year's winner.

Thursday, it was the Ava D which claimed third place with a 491.4 pound fish. Ava D's catch displaced the Chainlink, which  brought in a 412.7 lb. haul on day four of the tournament.

Thousands of people from across the nation were on hand for the big week in eastern North Carolina. There were nearly 120 boats registered in the tournament.
