GREENVILLE, S.C. -

General Electric broke ground Tuesday on a new manufacturing facility in Greenville County. The $400 million investment will create 80 new jobs over the next decade.

GE calls the new building a state-of-the-art power and water advanced manufacturing facility that will be in operation in 2015.

The GE Greenville facility on Garlington Road already employs more than 3,000 people. It was established in the county back in 1968 and has grown from 340,000 square feet to more than a million square feet of factory space and offices.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and tim Scott attended Tuesday's announcement.
