A shot was fired at police during a chase according to Anderson Police.

An officer ran a vehicle tag near Dobbins Avenue and the tag did not match the vehicle, according to police.

The officer attempted to pull the car over, but it didn't stop.  At that time, police say they began a chase with the vehicle.

At one point, police witnessed a passenger jump out of the moving car and take off running.

The driver continued to lead police in a chase, and then jumped out of the car himself, according to police.

After the driver jumped out, police say the suspect fired one shot at the patrol car.

Officers called in the Anderson County Sheriff's Office K-9 to search for the suspect.

The K-9 located William Joseph Kilgore hiding behind a trash can on Bowman Avenue, according to police.

Kilgore has been taken into custody.
