SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -
Three people were sent to a hospital after a wrong-way driver crashed into another car on Business Interstate 85 early Friday morning.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers say a woman driving a 2005 Mustang was traveling in the wrong direction in the northbound lanes and struck a Honda Civic that was carrying two people.

The crash happened near Exit 5B in the area of the Hearon Circle interchange around 4:15 a.m.

All three people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, but were trapped in their cars.

After the victims were removed from their cars, they were taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The conditions of the people involved in the accident haven't been released.

SCHP troopers closed all northbound lanes after the accident. Drivers were able to begin moving again, but travel through the area was backed up for most of the Friday morning commute.

The S.C. Department of Transportation announced the crash scene was cleared shortly after 9:00 a.m.
