SPARTANBURG, S.C -

Spartanburg Public Safety officers are investigating an assault that happened early Friday evening on Heather Drive.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m., near Camelot Drive. According to a report obtained from police, a man and woman were walking down the road when a car pulled up beside them and two hispanic males got out. The men then proceeded to hit the man several times with an aluminum baseball bat before pulling out a knife and cutting him several times.

The suspects then took the man's wallet and $250 and left the scene. Officers found multiple cuts on the victim's arm and stomach, as well as bruises and wounds to his knee where he was struck with the bat. The 31-year-old victim was transported to Mary Black Hospital due to his injuries

The man and woman told police that they did not know the suspects. The suspects were driving a mid-90's model black Ford Mustang with the word "Chica" written on the windshield. They were wearing brown khakis with black bandanas in their back pockets.
