Greenville - (Woodmont High School Release)
Woodmont High School is very excited to announce that Ned Cuthbertson has accepted the head football coaching position.
After an evaluation of the football program, Chris Carter, new athletic director, created a strategic plan for hiring the school’s next football coach. Four important points guided the decision: hire someone committed to stay and develop a program over an extended period of time, hire a person of outstanding character, hire a great teacher, and hire a person with a great mindset for football.
Chris Carter stated, “Without a doubt, Ned Cuthbertson will be a great ambassador of our school and community. I believe that our new coach has a tremendous gift of relating to and caring about students. He also has a tremendous amount of resources available to him as needed from previous coaches in both football and strength training. Coach Cuthbertson is the type of person I would hope my children would have as teacher. “
Ned Cuthbertson was a three year letterman at one of the most successful high school programs in the state. While at James F. Byrnes High School, he was part of two state championship teams during his junior and senior seasons as an offensive lineman. After graduation, he received a full athletic scholarship to attend Elon University. During his five year career, he was a two-time All Southern Conference selection while also being selected by his peers as team captain his senior season. After college, Coach Cuthbertson started his coaching career at Chase High School in North Carolina. While at Chase High School, Coach Cuthbertson served as Special Teams Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach.
