RALEIGH, N.C. -

Crews finished repair work Saturday afternoon on a gas leak first reported Friday night at Hargett and Salisbury streets in downtown Raleigh during the Independence Day celebration.

PSNC said crews shut off a four inch pipeline at 7:15 a.m. The line was fixed by 4 p.m., authorities said.

No one lost service downtown and there were no evacuations.

Salisbury Street was blocked between Martin and Hargett streets until the repairs were completed.

The repairs were expected to continue through the day as the pavement has to be repaired but work wrapped up earlier than expected, authorities said.
