KKK Recruitment Flyers Dropped Off In Oconee County

Posted: Updated:
SENECA, S.C. -

Neighbors in Oconee County found bags along their street with candy and a piece of paper asking people to join the Ku Klux Klan.

One neighbor said he found the bag late Saturday night. Others found it laying with the Sunday morning paper.

The flyer says "Save Our Land, Join The Klan." It has a hotline number or people to call.

There is an automated message when you call that number which details the latest KKK efforts against illegal immigration. The man also says "If it ain't white, it ain't right. White power."

A man with the KKK William J. Spears returned a call to 7 On Your Side saying there is a recruitment effort going on all across the country.

He said white people have a right to organize just like anyone else.

Neighbors in Oconee County agree that it their right. They just don't want to find what they view as a hateful message in their driveway.

"To see something like that here, it's unacceptable," neighbor Bo Morris said.
