South Carolina Jobless Rate Holds At 5.3%

South Carolina's unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.3 percent in June for the second straight month.

There has been no change in the jobless figure since April according to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce.

The agency reports compared to a year ago, the unemployment rate has fallen by 2.5 percentage points. More than 35,000 people have found work while the labor force has decreased by more than 20,000 since June, 2013.

Here are the unemployment rates for counties in the Upstate in June:

Union - 7.4%

Cherokee- 6.6%

Abbeville- 6.4%

Greenwood - 6.3%

Oconee - 6.2%

Spartanburg - 5.7%

Laurens - 5.6%

Pickens - 5.4%

Anderson - 5.3%

Newberry - 5.2%

Greenville - 4.8%
