SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

Spartanburg County deputies say they've arrested a woman they say lied about being the victim of an assault and attempted robbery.

Deputies say 21 year old Kendall Settlemyre of Spartanburg was arrested and charged with filing a false report of a felony.

They say she filed a report on Tuesday, August 19th in which she claimed she was the victim of an assault and attempted robbery near the wood line of the grounds of Campus Evolution Villages.

The Sheriff's Office says investigators had some concerns about her original account, since five officers were at the complex at the time of the alleged incident.

They say deputies responded to a call about a loud party.

Investigators later confronted Settlemyre about her story and deputies say she confessed to lying about the report and says she and a roommate were having an argument.

Deputies say Settlemyre turned herself in Thursday afternoon at the Warrant Office of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
