Driver Charged In Deadly Asheville Crash

An Asheville man is behind bars after a deadly accident Monday night.

John Zabriskie, 49, was charged after police say his 2004 Toyota pickup truck hit a motorcycle driver. The accident happened just after 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Charlotte Street and Woodfin Place.  

Asheville Police say Zabriskie tried to make a left turn onto the Interstate 240 North onramp, but didn't yield the right of way to a motorcycle driver who was traveling north on Charlotte Street.

Zabroskie's pickup truck hit the motorcycle. The driver died at the scene according to Asheville Police.  He has been identified as 37-year-old Joshua Allan Calhoun of Asheville.

Zabriskie is charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired and failure to yield right of way.  

He was being held on $25,000 bond.
