OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. -

Oconee County deputies arrested Eric Fontaine of Fletcher, NC and charged him with reckless driving, failure to stop and simple possession of marijuana.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says a deputy spotted Fontaine on a motorcycle, traveling at a high rate of speed Friday afternoon on Highway 123 near Seneca.

The deputy tried to pull him over, but investigators say Fontaine did not stop. The deputy followed Fontaine from Oconee County into Pickens County, where we're told he lost control of his motorcycle and almost dropped the bike at the intersection of Cherry and McAlister Roads.

Investigations say Fontaine tried to take off again but his bike stalled out. The deputy was then able to arrest Fontaine and take him into custody.

Clemson University Police arrived on scene to assist with the arrest. Officers found drug paraphernalia and a clear plastic bag with marijuana inside Fontaine's backpack.
