Alessandra Young

Alessandra Young joined the WSPA 7 Family in October of 2021 as the Spartanburg nightside reporter.

Alessandra comes from Lynchburg, Virginia where she reported for two years. During her first few months at ABC13 News, she was finishing up her degree at Virginia Tech. While working at WSET, Alessandra won an Edward Murrow Award for team coverage on the 2020 summer riots, covered the presidential election, and covered events during the pandemic.

Prior to graduation, Alessandra was involved in Virginia Tech Television, VTTV, where her love for telling stories guided her onto the path of reporting. Alessandra grew up in Christiansburg, Virginia where she gained her love of the outdoors. Always having lived in Virginia, Alessandra is excited to start immersing herself in the South Carolina community.

Even though she comes from Virginia, Alessandra is familiar with South Carolina. Growing up, Alessandra and her family had a home on Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dog and loved ones, being active outside, watching sporting events and getting to know the Spartanburg area!

Alessandra wants to hear from you, whether it’s a story idea or just to say hello! Feel free to send her an email at ayoung@wspa.com or connect on social media.
