Ben Hoover

Ben Hoover is thrilled to be back in the Upstate covering local news with Carolina’s Family. You can see Ben anchoring 7 News at 6 and 11 weekend nights and reporting weekdays on WSPA at 5, 6, and 7.

Prior to joining WSPA, Ben anchored the evening news for six years at WIS, the #1 rated station in South Carolina’s capital city. He also spent some time anchoring at the ABC station in Columbia and the FOX O&O station in Charlotte. Since moving to South Carolina in 2006, Ben has covered every major story in the state including South Carolina’s “Thousand Year Flood” in October 2015, the Charleston Church massacre and following trials for Dylann Roof, the removal of the Confederate flag from State House grounds, multiple SC GOP “First in the South” presidential primaries, and the Gov. Mark Sanford scandal.

Through the years, Ben has won numerous awards for his anchoring and reporting, including SC Associated Press awards for , Best Health Report (2011), Best Newscast (2010), Best Environmental Report (2009), and Best Investigative Report (2008). More recently, Ben was voted “Best TV News Anchor” by Columbia Metropolitan Magazine readers and “Best TV News Anchor” by Free Times newspaper readers.
