Union County native Malachi Rodgers joined the 7NEWS team as a morning meteorologist. You can watch Malachi weekdays on 7NEWS from 4:30 – 7 a.m. and on WYCW from 7 – 9 a.m.
Malachi grew up in Jonesville, S.C., and is excited about his return home. As a high school standout at Jonesville High, his accomplishments included class salutatorian, student body president and varsity basketball team captain.
Malachi earned his B.A. from Furman University where he also worked as an admissions counselor after graduation. He graduated from the Broadcast Meteorology program at Mississippi State University and is a member of the American Meteorological Society. He has also earned his seal from the A.M.S.
Malachi started his television career in Columbia, S.C., where he worked as a weather anchor, news anchor, and reporter for WIS-TV, WOLO, and WACH before moving to FOX Charlotte. In 2007, Malachi’s career took him to Orlando, Fla., where he worked at the NBC station covering major weather events, including hurricanes, tornadoes, and record freezes in Central Florida. All of those weather experiences make him ready to tackle the diverse Upstate and mountain weather here in the Carolinas.
Malachi and his wife enjoy spending time with their young daughter, while rediscovering the Upstate and catching up with family and friends in the area.
