Melanie Palmer joined the 7NEWS team in December of 2019 as a multimedia journalist, and she couldn’t be more thrilled to be living in South Carolina!
A born and raised Minnesotan, Melanie started her career in Michigan after graduating from Central Michigan University. She spent the first part of her career covering winter storms in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as a multimedia journalist/producer/evening anchor. Melanie then made her way over to Fargo, where she covered some of the coldest winters in the country and anchored the evening newscasts.
Aside from her weather reporting, Melanie’s passion for the news has spread across all different topics. During her time in Fargo, she covered a handful of investigative consumer stories, one of which caused the state’s attorneys general to reopen an investigation into a contractor fraud case in the area, resulting in a family getting back thousands of dollars they were scammed out of.
Melanie always knew she wanted to work in news. In fact, she would spend her time pretending to anchor newscasts from the coffee table in her parent’s living room as a young girl.
When Melanie isn’t in front of the camera, she loves pursuing her other dream, ballet. She also loves hiking and cannot wait to explore the beautiful area!
