Nicole Ford joined the 7 News team in May of 2017 as a reporter and multimedia journalist.
Nicole is a Western Pennsylvania native and grew up familiar to the eclectic “Steel City”, but is no stranger to the Carolinas. She joins us from WCTI in Eastern North Carolina, where she worked as a weekend anchor and a reporter out of the Greenville bureau.
One of her biggest accomplishments was breaking the global news of the death of BMX bike legend Dave Mirra. She was the first reporter in any medium to have the news of his death, and her story was reached by millions from the United States and across the globe. She also closely followed the 2016 controversial governor race in North Carolina and reported on three historic floods that destroyed a number of communities in ENC.
Her passion for storytelling began at West Virginia University. She graduated summa cum laude in three years with a bachelor’s degree in Television Journalism with minors in Political Science and Business Administration. While in college, she was an anchor and reporter for the Emmy award-winning newscast WVU News.
When Nicole isn’t reporting on the streets, she enjoys capturing the beautiful sights of the Upstate with her camera, spending time with her dog and learning creative DIY projects on HGTV.
She’s excited to call the Upstate home, so if you have any story ideas or just want to say hello, do not hesitate to reach out via email at nford@wspa.com. You can also keep up with her stories by following her on Twitter or adding her on Facebook.
