THE MIGHTY MOO IS COMING TO COWPENS THIS WEEKEND!
The event is a 3 day event including a beauty pageant, a golf tournament, concerts on Thursday Friday and Saturday, a 5K Run on Saturday and a full day of events on Saturday including a parade, vendors and fireworks on Saturday night.
The festival is a tradition that spans back to 1977 when the town first started the festival, so this is the 39th year of the festival, honoring the CVL 25 which was the USS Cowpens, (nicknamed The Mighty Moo by it’s crewman) aircraft carrier during WW2. (the first US aircraft to go into Tokyo Bay during the war) The town adopted crewmen back in the 1990’s through the local school system and since then, crewman have come back for the festival. Also, there is a current battle ship, the CG63.
