1 airlifted, another hospitalized after Blacksburg shooting

CHEROKEE CO., S.C. (WSPA) — A man was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after he was shot several times in Blacksburg.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a shooting with injuries around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at 987 Holly Grove Road. 

Officers found a victim who had been shot several times. Deputies say the victim indicated he was shot as he walked to his vehicle after an argument with people at the home. 

Deputies say a second person was also hospitalized with injuries. 

The shooting wasn’t a random act of violence and that there’s no threat to the community, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say the parties reportedly knew each other. 

The investigation is ongoing.
