SPARTANBURG CO., S.C. (WSPA) – A man has been arrested after another man was found dead on his bedroom floor, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner’s office says they responded to a house on Tool Road in Boiling Springs at about 7:04 a.m. Sunday.

There, they found 67-year-old Boyce Wayne Pye on his bedroom floor.

The coroner says Pye had extensive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say 28-year-old Joshua Caleb Ellis has been arrested and charged in connection to Pye’s death.

According to an arrest warrant, Ellis has been charged with murder and armed robbery after he took a 2009 Nissan truck from Pye.

Ellis was armed with a piece of steel pipe during the robbery and used it to beat Pye in the head, the arrest warrant says.

Deputies responded to Pye’s house after they found his truck parked and unoccupied at Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.

When they didn’t get an answer at the door, they contacted Ellis who also lives on Tool Road.

After comments Ellis made to deputies, they forced entry into Pye’s house and found his body in the bedroom, according to the sheriff’s office.

Ellis is being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.  The jail says a bond hearing is set for 11am Monday.

The cause of Pye’s death is listed as Open Head Trauma from Blunt Force Trauma to Head and Body, according to the coroner’s office.
