Man faces murder charge after Walmart deadly shooting in Greenville Co., victim ID’d


GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Greenville County Coroner’s Office officials confirmed that a man is dead and another man has been charged with murder after a shooting at an area Walmart Friday afternoon.

According to Greenville County Sheriff’s Office officials, deputies responded to Walmart, located at 6134 White Horse Road, in regards to a shooting.

When deputies arrived on-scene, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead just after 1:30 p.m.

The coroner identified the victim as 45-year-old Michael Jason Deck of Pickens County.

Deck suffered gunshot wounds to the head and torso, according to the coroner.

Deputies were able get a description of the suspect and took him into custody a short distance away from the scene.

Sheriff’s Office officials identified the suspect as Braylon Lamar Morris, 33.

Morris was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Morris was denied bond at a hearing Saturday morning.

Investigators said that this was an isolated shooting and that the suspect and the victim were familiar with each other. The shooting was reportedly a result of some type of dispute.

According to the release, Walmart has closed temporarily while investigators continue to investigate the case.

Berea Fire Department officials said they received a call earlier that came in as a gunshot.
