1 dead in single car crash in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – One person died Saturday morning after a single car crash in Spartanburg County.

The accident happened at about 7:08 a.m. on Old Converse Road near Collins Road, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol. 

Highway Patrol says a 1999 Mazda sedan was traveling south on Old Converse Road when it went off the left side of roadway and struck a tree.

Troopers said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and there was nobody else in the car.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Sergio Carmelo Cristales-Orduna.

SCHP and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office will continue to investigate the crash.
