CHEROKEE Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Lanes were blocked and traffic backed up for miles following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 85 in Gaffney.
The crash happened shortly before 6:20 a.m. Wednesday near mile marker 95, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Troopers say three vehicles were headed north when the driver of a Ford van slowed for a mechanical problem. A Spartanburg man driving behind the van slowed down and was rear ended by a Gaffney man driving a Chevrolet pickup truck, causing the second driver to hit the Ford van.
Troopers say a man from Troutman, N.C. was taken to Mary Black Gaffney hospital with injuries.
The other two drivers were not reportedly hurt.
Troopers cited the driver of the pickup with driving too fast for conditions.
Northbound traffic was blocked for an hour before one lane reopened.
