GREENWOOD COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) –  One person was injured in a crash Friday morning on Highway 221 near Lake Greenwood.

According South Carolina Highway Patrol officials, the two-vehicle crash happened around 6 a.m. on Highway 221 near Coker Road.

Highway Patrol said a 2005 Dodge SUV was traveling south on Highway  221 and a 2003 BMW two-door vehicle was traveling north.

The BMW then reportedly ran off the right side of the road, hit a guardrail and continued driving.

According to highway patrol, the BMW then crossed the median and went into the southbound lane, where it hit the Dodge.

The driver of the Dodge was injured in the crash and was taken to Self Regional Healthcare for treatment.

The driver of the BMW — Victor Salvador-Chama, 28, of Greenwood — was charged with not having a South Carolina driver’s license and for driving too fast for conditions.

We reported earlier Friday that a portion of Highway 221 near Lake Greenwood was shut down due to the crash, but has since reopened.
