One person was airlifted to an area hospital following a two-vehicle crash Friday night in Anderson County. 

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol’s website, the crash happened at about 9:43 p.m. on US 29 near Smith Motors Road. 

7News Crews on scene said the crash involved a car and an SUV.

SCHP said the driver of the SUV was driving north on US 29 and the woman driving of the car was driving south on US 29. The woman attempted to make a left hand turn when the vehicles collided. 

The car was located several hundred feet off of the roadway. 7News Crews said the car traveled through a picnic area. 

The driver of the car was airlifted to an area hospital. The condition of the driver is unknown at this time. 

According to SCHP, the driver of the SUV ran away before they arrived on scene. 

South Carolina Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the crash.
