1 person killed after crash on US 221 in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – One person has died after a crash on US 221 in Spartanburg County that happened Friday evening. 

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 6:10 p.m. on US 221 near Old Switzer Road. The roadway was blocked, but has since reopened. 

The collision occurred when the driver of a 2015 Lexus struck the rear of a farm tractor. 

The driver of the tractor sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Lexus, 67-year-old Steven William Oliver, Sr. of Laurens County, died at the scene, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
