1 shot at apartments in Abbeville, police searching for suspect

Police have been searching for a man after a shooting Saturday afternoon that left one person injured in Abbeville. 

Police responded at about 5 p.m. to the Hickory Heights Apartments on Cambridge Street in reference to a gunshot victim.

The victim in the shooting was taken by helicopter to Greenville Memorial Hospital for their injuries.

Police said the victim had been in a fight with the shooter.

Investigators said they are looking for Sherman Mckenzie Norman, 37, in connection with the shooting.

Norman is 5’9″ tall and weighs about 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants with a Nike logo, a black hoodie and orange shoes.

Norman was last seen a short time after the shooting in the area of Cambridge Street Extension in Abbeville.

Norman has an extensive criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police. Norman should not be approached if seen in public.
