SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – A sixth grade student has died two days after a crash in Boiling Springs, according to the coroner.

The Spartanburg County Coroner says 11-year-old Ethan Frank Rubenzer of Boiling Springs died Sunday afternoon at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Rubenzer was the passenger in a car that was hit by a Chevrolet SUV while during left from Birds Eye View on to Boiling Springs Road.

The three-car crash happened around 7:15am, Friday morning.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 29-year-old Michael Eugene Kelley II, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony DUI and driving under suspension.

Rubenzer was a sixth grade student at High Point Academy and was headed to school at the time of the crash, according to the school.

A memorial service for Ethan will be held Wednesday at Joy Lutheran Church in Moore. A visitation will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm while the memorial service will begin at 6:00pm.
