13-year-old charged after making threats against Fairforest M.S.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office officials said a 13-year-old student was charged after making threats of violence against an area middle school.

According to Lt. Kevin Bobo, the student posted an inappropriate Instagram message on Wednesday night implying violence to Fairforest Middle School.

“The student was quickly identified by the school administration and held for law enforcement,” Bobo said. “Several calls were made to 911 this morning, and Uniform Patrol responded to several residences of concerned parents.”

According to the release, the student was detained and charged.

“Both the Sheriff’s Office and Spartanburg School District 6 would like to commend the students and their parents who immediately made us aware of the social media post,” Bobo said.
