Seneca firefighters responded to a house fire Friday afternoon in Oconee County.
According to Chief Ritchie Caudill, they were made aware of the fire on Powell Street at about 4:19 p.m.
Seven people lived at the home, according to Caudill. Two adults and two children were in the home at the time of the fire. They were able to get out of the house safely through a window, Caudill said.
The family’s pets were not able to get out of the house, Caudill said.
When fire fighters arrived on scene, they said heavy flames were showing from all over the house.
The house was considered a total loss. Caudill said they do not think the fire was suspicious, but the cause of the fire will continue to be under investigation.
