2 arrested after meth, fake gun, machete found in car in Greenville


GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Two men were arrested after meth, fake cash, machete and more was found in their car, according to Greenville Police

Police responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle driving around the mall parking lot on Tuesday evening, possibly canvassing vehicles.

An officer talked to the two people inside and they gave conflicting information about who owned the vehicle.

Both the people had active warrants, according to the report.

They told the officer there was nothing of concern in the vehicle.

Police say that didn’t turn out to be true.

The officer searched the two people and the vehicle and seized the following items:

A homemade machete

Lock-picking tools

Plastic tube and spoon with residue,

.40 cal. bullet

.22 cal short bullets


Cigarette lighter appearing to be a handgun

Five jewelry items in boxes

12 capped syringes

11 capped needles

Uncapped needle

48 baggies

Fake $100 bill

Driver’s license

Credit card not connected to the arrested parties.

Police say Nicholas Hawkins and Jay Brown were charged with possession of meth with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the Greenville County Detention Center.
