2 dead, 4 hurt in SC mobile home fire


BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSPA) – Two people are dead and four others hurt in a mobile home fire near the South Carolina coast.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that a trailer in Bluffton caught fire around 12:15 a.m. Thursday. 

Deputies say nine people were inside the mobile home.

Seven people managed to escape the blaze, while a man and woman were found dead inside the home. 

Deputies say autopsies are scheduled Friday at the Medical University of South Carolina to determine the cause and manner of deaths. Their names have not been released at this time. 

Four people were hurt in the fire. 

The Associated Press reports two victims were flown to a burn center in Augusta, while two others were taken to a Savannah hospital. 

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division is investigating the fire.
