2 dead after crash on Dacusville Rd. in Greenville Co.

Two people are dead after a crash in northern Greenville County, Saturday night.

The crash happened on Dacusville Road near Freeeman Bridge Road just before 8:30 p.m., according to Highway Patrol.

Troopers say an SUV went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, crossed the center line, and was struck by a box truck traveling in the opposite direction on Dacusville Road.

According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Michaela Lynn McKittrick, 19, of Travelers Rest, was in the passenger seat of the SUV died at the scene. The SUV’s driver, Adam Charles Hewit, 21, of Marietta, was trapped and had to be freed before being taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The 70-year-old driver of the box truck was taken to the hospital with injuries. His condition is not known at this time.

Troopers said everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt and there are no charges.
