LOS ANGELES (KRON) – The University of California at Los Angeles was on lockdown after two people were found dead of gunshot wounds in an apparent murder-suicide Wednesday morning.
LAPD says the shooting was a murder-suicide and that the campus is now safe.
Classes have been canceled for the rest of the day at UCLA. Officials say the campus will reopen Thursday.
The shooting happened at Boelter Hall, part of the Samueli School of Engineering & Applied Science.
The shooting occurred in a small office in the building. The chief says a gun was found along with what might be a suicide note.
UCPD Lt. Richard Davis said students told UCPD they heard a loud noise and gun shellings drop.
Davis added he did not know when students first reported the incident.
UCLA released a Bruin Alert about 9:52 a.m. informing students to find a secure location and lock entry.
