2 hurt in crash on Asheville Hwy in Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – Hill Top Fire Department officials said two people were injured in a crash on Asheville Highway Thursday morning.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 10:15 a.m. on Asheville Highway near Jeff Davis Drive.

Hill Top Fire Chief Donnie Mills said two vehicles were involved in the crash.

According to highway patrol, a Kia van and a Ford Mustang were traveling east on Asheville Highway.

The van was in the left lane and made an improper lane change, hit the Mustang that was in the right lane and the van then overturned.

Both drivers were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Highway Patrol officials said the driver of the Kia was cited for improper lane change.

Two lanes of Asheville Highway and Dexter Road were blocked to traffic, but the crash has since cleared and the road has reopened.
