SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Police in Tennessee say two people died, including the shooter, and a third person was injured in a shooting at a busy shopping center Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting was reported around 3:49 p.m. outside the Coach store at Tanger Outlets in Sevierville.

Police say the gunman shot two people and then shot himself. The adult male gunman and an adult woman died. An adult man was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.

According to Bob Stahlke with the Sevierville Police Department, the alleged shooter is 21-year-old Leon Steven Jones of Newport/Sevierville, Tenn. The two victims are 24-year-old Olivia Katelyn Cunningham of York, Pa., and 75-year-old John Marr of Templeton, Mass.

A spokesperson says it appears none of the three people involved knew each other and said it appears to be a “random shooting.”

Tanger Outlets said in a Facebook post the stores would close at 6 p.m. to allow investigators to work.

“We are grateful to the Sevierville Police for their quick response to the sad and tragic situation that occurred on our property on Tuesday. We closed our stores at 6 p.m. tonight to allow the investigators to do their work. We plan to reopen tomorrow at normal time,” management said.
