The shooting reportedly happened in an open area near the first parking lot to the right of the entrance of the complex.

Mayfield was reportedly visiting a family member at the apartment complex.
“I met multiple times with the victim’s family to consult with them about the evidence in the case. I wish there was more the legal process could offer this family to lessen their profoundly felt grief. I extend my sympathies to the Mayfield family for their loss,“ District Attorney Todd Williams said.
