ANDERSON Co., SC (WSPA) – Deputies say two people were shot during a fight at a motel in Anderson County on Wednesday morning.
Sergeant J.T. Foster, spokesman for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies responded to a shooting at Hilltop Motel on Highway 29 South.
Kenneth Barlow lives at the motel and says, “there was a guy standing on the other side of the wooden fence, next to my room and he had a fire arm in his hand and he told me you need to go back inside you don’t want to get shot.” That’s when he called for help.
Investigators say it appears at least seven people were in a fight behind the motel that led to two people being shot.
Anderson County Sheriff, Chad McBride says, a meeting, turned into a fight, that ultimately turned into a shoot out. The Sheriff says, “we believe we have almost everybody that was involved in the incident at this point detained or accounted for, two of them are in the hospital.”
Sgt. Foster said one shooting victim’s injuries are not life threatening. The other victim required surgery for their injuries.
Five people were detained and interviewed after the shooting and three were eventually arrested, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff McBride says, “we’re reviewing video surveillance right now… looks like from this point almost all of it was captured on video.”
Deputies have charged Jordan Kinard and Cannon Owens with two counts of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature and Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol. Tyler Brooks has been charged with two counts of first degree Assault and Battery.
