3.0 magnitude earthquake recorded in east Tennessee

BLOUNT Co., Tenn. (WSPA) — A 3.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded in eastern Tennessee.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake happened around 4 a.m. Monday in Alcoa.

The city is located south of Knoxville, near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The USGS reports the earthquake was recorded at a depth of about 8 miles or 12.7 kilometers.

Our sister station WATE reports it hasn’t received any reports of injuries or damage as of early Monday morning.
