3 from Upstate killed in plane crash in Bahamas

ROCK SOUND, THE BAHAMAS (WSPA) – Three men from the Upstate were killed when their plane crashed on an island in the Bahamas shortly after takeoff.

According to Eyewitness News, the twin-engine Cessna crashed near the airport in Rock Sound on the island of Eleuthera.

The plane was registered to a business on Northeast Drive in Spartanburg County.

7News spoke with a person at a business also registered at the same address who confirmed that the three men were from the area but could not comment further.

Eyewitness News reports the three were on the island for a fishing trip and arrived there Sunday afternoon.

Air accident investigators are looking into what caused the plane to crash.

The crash scene is in a remote area of the island which is difficult to access, according to Eyewitness News.
