3-year-old hurt in accidental shooting in Greer

GREENVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said a toddler was injured after they accidentally fired a gun Monday night.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, deputies responded to Greenville Hospital System’s Greer campus in regards to a 3-year-old shooting victim.

Investigators say the child got a gun from inside a vehicle at a home on New Bruce Road and accidentally fired the gun, hitting himself.

Deputies said the boy is in critical condition as of Monday night.  

“At this time, the incident appears to be accidental, however the investigation is ongoing and further information will be released once readily available,” said sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Ryan Flood.
