FRANKLIN COUNTY, GA (WSPA) – Georgia State Patrol officials said a 3-year-old was killed in a crash early Thursday morning in Franklin County.
According to troopers, the crash happened at around 3:30 am. on Interstate 85 South.
An SUV reportedly ran off the road and overturned near mile marker 164.
A 3-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the SUV, was thrown from the vehicle and died.
Troopers said eight people were inside the vehicle, including other children. Those children are believed to only have sustained minor injuries.
One adult was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
Troopers said they are investigating the possibility that another vehicle was involved, as well as looking into whether the child who died was restrained in the vehicle.
