4 charged after armed robbery of Verizon store in Waynesville

WAYNESVILLE, NC (WSPA) – Four men have been charged in connection with the armed robbery of a Verizon Wireless Store Saturday in Waynesville.

Waynesville Police say the four men were armed and entered the store on Russ Avenue wearing masks and demanded merchandise from the store employees around 8:30pm.

Investigators say the four left in a Chevrolet HHR and were spotted a short time later by a witness stopped at exit 104 on the Great Smoky Mountains Expressway.

Officers say they found masks, gloves, a gun, and items taken from the store inside the vehicle.

22-year-old Theodore Buckner, 21-year-old Te’Quan Clark, 21-year-old Dominic Hawkins, and 20-year-old Chase Daugherty are each charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Police say more criminal charges are expected.
