4 taken to hospital after school bus crash in Pendleton

PENDLETON, S.C. (WSPA) – Authorities say four people on a school bus were taken to the emergency room after a crash in Pendleton. 

According to Anderson County dispatch, the crash happened around 6:08 p.m. Thursday on US 76 near Westinghouse Road. 

Anderson School District 4 Superintendent Dr. Joanne Avery said an Anderson Electric City Transit bus crossed the center line of Clemson Boulevard and hit the side of an activity bus that was carrying the track team. 

Avery said four people were transported to be checked out, but no one was seriously hurt. 

Pendleton Police Department is investigating the wreck.  

Pendleton Police Chief Boyle Burdette said it appears the city transit bus driver may have had a medical event of fallen asleep. Events leading up to the crash were still under investigation as of Friday.
