4 tornadoes confirmed in South Carolina, NWS says


COLUMBIA, SC (WSPA) – The National Weather Service has confirmed four tornadoes hit South Carolina, Sunday.

NWS crews were out all day Sunday surveying damage to determine where tornadoes hit in the state.

Two separate tornadoes were confirmed to have hit Lexington County, both EF-1 strength. One just north of Interstate 20 near Route 6 and the other just south of I-20 from Baneberry to Red Bank.

The National Weather Service also confirmed an EF-1 tornado struck Columbia just north of Riverbanks Zoo.

An EF-2 tornado touched down in Edgefield County near the Georgia state line.

Nobody was hurt in the tornadoes.
